"Metallurgy" was a brand new choreographed pieced by Susan Jaffe. The drop designed by Joe Tilford was painted on scrim in order to transluce. The drop itself is designed to resemble a dark polluted sky. Working with the paint charge, Reilly Miller, the process was as follows.

Process wise the drop was drawn and gridded out on bogus paper and then the sharks tooth screamed was layed out. Vermiculate was put down to capture the cloud shapes followed by multiple sprays to establish base colors. Then a team including myself and four other painters went in with brushes and proceeded to detail out the rest of the clouds. The process took roughly a week. Amidst this huge drop there were also four other shows in the shop including Guys and Dolls, Die Fliedermaus, Angels in America and Misalliance. By far the most busy the paint deck has ever been but well worth it!
